17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This image, titled "Young Villagers on Bales of Straw," is an 18th-century painting by the renowned French artist Nicolas Lancret. The handcolored illustration is a meticulous lithograph by A. Didier, L. Flameng, and F. Laguillermie, published in Georges Duplessis's comprehensive work "Costumes historiques des XVIe, XVIIe et XVIIIe siecles" (Historical costumes of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries) in Paris, 1867. The painting portrays a group of young, carefree villagers in the heart of rural France. They sit casually on large bales of straw, their clothing reflecting the rustic charm of the era. The women wear elegant yet practical dresses, with full skirts and low-cut bodices adorned with intricate lacework. Their hair is styled in elaborate, intricately braided updos, held in place by ribbons and flowers. The men, dressed in simple shirts and waistcoats, display a sense of camaraderie as they engage in conversation or playful banter. The idyllic scene is further enhanced by the lush greenery and vibrant colors of the surrounding landscape. The rolling hills, dotted with trees and wildflowers, create a picturesque backdrop for the villagers' leisurely activities. The warm sunlight filtering through the trees adds a sense of tranquility and serenity to the image. This painting not only offers a glimpse into the fashion and lifestyle of 18th-century rural France but also serves as a testament to the beauty and charm of a simpler time. The young villagers on bales of straw embody the spirit of community, joy, and connection that transcends time and continues to inspire us today.
