23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the young Albert Auerbach, a soldier of the Royal Fusiliers, in the early hours of the morning during the First World War. The image, taken circa 1916, likely in Egypt, shows Albert standing outside his tent, dressed in pyjamas, as the sun begins to rise over the desert landscape. The time is recorded on the back of the photograph as 5.29am. The Royal Fusiliers were a renowned infantry regiment of the British Army, with a rich history dating back to the late 17th century. During the First World War, they saw action in various theatres, including the Middle East. The harsh conditions of the desert and the tropical climate necessitated unique adaptations, such as the use of pyjamas for sleeping and resting. This photograph offers a rare glimpse into the daily life of a soldier during wartime. The image conveys a sense of quiet reflection, as Albert, perhaps weary from the rigours of military life, takes a moment to appreciate the beauty of the sunrise. The desert tents in the background add to the scene, emphasizing the remote and isolated nature of the soldiers' existence. The 1910s were a defining period in world history, marked by the outbreak and subsequent devastation of the First World War. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the men and women who lived through this tumultuous era, and the sacrifices they made for their countries. Albert Auerbach, and countless others like him, played a crucial role in shaping the course of history. This image, with its intimate and personal details, offers a unique perspective on their experiences.
