23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the intense focus of two Austrian scientists as they work in secret at their laboratory bench in Adana, Turkey, during the tumultuous year of 1917. Amidst the backdrop of the First World War, these scientists, clad in white coats, are deeply engrossed in their experimentation, mixing chemicals in test tubes and studying their samples under a microscope. The lab, filled with scientific equipment and supplies, is a stark contrast to the chaos and destruction unfolding across Europe and the Ottoman Empire. The portrait of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, whose assassination in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, had ignited the conflict, hangs conspicuously on the wall behind them. The presence of the archduke's likeness may serve as a reminder of the political climate that had driven these scientists into exile, or it could simply be a memento from home. Regardless, it adds an intriguing layer of historical context to this image. As part of the Central Powers, Austria-Hungary played a significant role in the First World War. The scientists in this photograph were likely working on projects that could contribute to the war effort, such as developing new weapons or improving medical treatments for soldiers. The exact nature of their research, however, remains a mystery. This photograph offers a glimpse into the world of scientific research during a time of war, when the pursuit of knowledge and discovery continued despite the larger geopolitical turmoil. It serves as a poignant reminder of the human capacity for perseverance and the enduring power of science.
