FSC real wood frame with double mounted 24x20 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 31x27 inches (787x685mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

1. The West Front of Byland Abbey, Ryedale, North Yorkshire: A Glimpse into Medieval Architecture and Monastic Life The captivating image before you presents the magnificent West Front of Byland Abbey, nestled in the picturesque Ryedale area of North Yorkshire, England. This photograph, taken circa 1900, is part of the Box 1 Boswell Collection Series of Abbeys, offering a unique window into the past. Byland Abbey, founded in 1132, is a prime example of the Cistercian architectural style, characterized by its austere yet harmonious design. The West Front, with its intricate stone carvings and soaring arches, serves as the primary entrance to the abbey church. The central portal is adorned with a stunningly detailed depiction of the Last Judgment, a common motif in medieval architecture, reminding the faithful of the ultimate destiny awaiting them. The West Front also features a series of arched windows, allowing natural light to illuminate the interior, while the central lantern, or rood loft, once housed a large wooden crucifix, or rood, which would have dominated the space above the high altar. The monks of Byland Abbey, who followed the Cistercian Rule, dedicated themselves to a life of prayer, work, and self-sufficiency. Their daily routine revolved around the Divine Office, the Liturgy of the Hours, and the celebration of the Mass. The abbey's location in the lush Ryedale valley provided ample resources for agriculture and other forms of labor, ensuring the monks' material needs were met. This photograph offers a glimpse into the rich history and architectural beauty of Byland Abbey, a testament to the monastic life and the enduring influence of medieval architecture.
