23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

1. Title: A Timeless Tradition: Wayang Puppet Theatre and Gamelan Orchestra of Java. This photograph, taken circa 1920, offers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Java, Indonesia, as it showcases a Wayang puppet theatre performance accompanied by a mesmerizing Gamelan orchestra. Wayang, a traditional Javanese puppet theatre, is an essential part of Indonesian history and continues to enchant audiences with its intricate storytelling and stunning visuals. The Wayang puppets, intricately crafted from leather, wood, and fabric, are skillfully manipulated by the dalang, or puppeteer, to bring the stories of ancient Hindu epics and Javanese folktales to life. The shadows cast by the puppets, illuminated by a large oil lamp, create an enchanting and otherworldly atmosphere. In the background, the Gamelan orchestra, an essential element of Wayang performances, adds depth and emotion to the story. The orchestra, consisting of various instruments such as metallophones, gongs, drums, and flutes, creates a harmonious and evocative soundscape that resonates with the audience. The interplay between the Wayang puppets and the Gamelan orchestra is a testament to the enduring power of traditional arts and their ability to transcend time and culture. This photograph serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving and celebrating the diverse cultural heritage of Java and Indonesia. The Wayang puppet theatre and Gamelan orchestra are not only a source of entertainment but also an integral part of the Javanese identity and a window into the rich history and traditions of Indonesia.
