FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
On the Way to Tipperary: An Infantryman, 1914" is a poignant and evocative sculpture that captures the essence of the British soldier's experience during the early days of the First World War. Created by an unknown artist for Mappin & Webb Ltd., this English school sculpture depicts a weary infantryman, clad in full military regalia, trudging along a muddy road with a determined expression on his face. The title "On the Way to Tipperary" is believed to be a reference to the popular Irish folk song of the same name, which became a morale-boosting anthem for British troops during the war. The soldier's uniform, complete with pack, rifle, and puttees, is a testament to the harsh realities of trench warfare. His tired yet resolute demeanor speaks volumes about the unyielding spirit of the soldiers who faced the horrors of the Western Front. The sculpture's intricate details, from the folds in the soldier's uniform to the texture of his boots, bring the image to life and transport us back in time to the early days of the First World War. This powerful and moving sculpture serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who fought in the war. It is a testament to the enduring human spirit and the resilience of those who faced unimaginable challenges in the name of freedom and justice. The sculpture also highlights the important role that art and culture play in preserving the history and memories of significant historical events. The "On the Way to Tipperary: An Infantryman, 1914" sculpture is a must-see for anyone interested in military history, World War I, or the human experience during times of war. Its intricate details, emotional depth, and historical significance make it a valuable addition to any collection or exhibit.
