23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Waiting at the Cotton Gin: A Snapshot of Rural Life in Memphis, Tennessee, Circa 1910 This evocative black-and-white photograph captures a moment in time at a cotton gin in Memphis, Tennessee, during the early 20th century. The cotton gin, an essential machine in the American textile industry, was used to quickly and efficiently separate cotton fibers from their seeds. In the image, several wagons and carts are lined up, waiting their turn to be processed by the gin. Farmers from the surrounding rural areas brought their raw cotton to the gin to be separated and prepared for sale to textile mills in the United States and other cotton-producing states. The mechanical gin, a symbol of the industrial revolution in agriculture, revolutionized the cotton industry and made it a major economic force in the southern United States. The scene is bustling with activity, with men and boys working to unload the cotton from the wagons and load it into the gin. Others stand around, waiting their turn or taking a break from the labor-intensive work. The air is thick with the scent of freshly picked cotton, and the sound of the gin's machinery can be heard in the background. This photograph offers a glimpse into the daily life of rural America during a time when agriculture was a dominant industry. It also highlights the importance of the cotton gin in the cotton industry and its role in shaping the economic landscape of the southern United States.
