17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this historic photograph, Irving Newton, a meteorological officer at Roswell Army Air Field in New Mexico, carefully examines debris that was reportedly found by local rancher Mac Brazel in July 1947. The material in Newton's hands, which appears shiny and reflective, was initially believed by many to be the remains of a crashed flying saucer. However, the US Air Force later stated that the debris was actually a radiator from a crashed weather balloon. The photo, taken in the 1940s, captures a pivotal moment in American history, as the UFO phenomenon began to capture the public's imagination. The incident at Roswell, New Mexico, would go on to become one of the most famous and controversial UFO stories of all time. Newton is seen standing on the floor of a room, surrounded by chairs and other objects, as he carefully inspects the strange material. His expression is serious, and he appears focused on his examination. The photograph offers a glimpse into the initial response of the military to the UFO phenomenon, and the attempts to explain away the unexplained. Despite the official explanation, many people remained skeptical, and the Roswell incident would fuel a growing interest in UFOs and extraterrestrial life. The photograph remains an intriguing piece of history, and a reminder of the enduring mystery and fascination surrounding the unknown. The photograph is a testament to the power of images to shape our understanding of history, and the way that even the most mundane objects can take on a mythic quality when viewed through the lens of popular culture. Whether you believe the debris in Newton's hands is evidence of a crashed weather balloon or a crashed UFO, this photograph is sure to spark curiosity and debate for generations to come.
