23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases a fragmented portion of the Trophy Column, a commemorative monument built by the Athenians in the 5th century BC to celebrate their legendary victory over the Persians in the Battle of Marathon. The battle, which took place in 490 BC, marked a pivotal moment in ancient Greek history, as it thwarted the Persian invasion of Greece and secured the city-state's independence. The Trophy Column, located in the Archaeological Museum of Marathon, stands as a testament to the Athenian triumph. The column, adorned with intricate Ionic order decorations, originally reached a height of approximately 10 meters. The fragment shown in the photograph features a broken capital, which once supported the column's upper structure. The capital is adorned with a frieze depicting the goddess Nike, the personification of victory, holding a palm branch and a wreath. The column's name derives from the trophies displayed on it, which represented the weapons and armor of the defeated Persians. The remains of the column, though now ruined, continue to captivate visitors with their historical significance and architectural beauty. The fragmented column serves as a reminder of the Greco-Persian Wars, a series of conflicts between the Greek city-states and the Persian Empire, which lasted from 499 to 449 BC. The Mesosporitissa, or Middle Stone, is another significant feature of the column, which is visible in the photograph. This stone was believed to have been used as a base for the column's upper section. The fragmented state of the column offers a glimpse into the rich history and cultural heritage of ancient Greece, making it a must-see attraction for history and archaeology enthusiasts.
