1620 Carried Days Mayflower Reaching December

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative image captures the historic vessel, the Mayflower, in full sail as it bravely navigated the Atlantic Ocean in the autumn of 1620. The Mayflower is renowned for its significant role in the founding of Plymouth Colony in New England, carrying the Pilgrim Fathers and their families from England to America. The journey, which took an impressive 63 days, was filled with challenges, including treacherous seas and harsh weather conditions. The Pilgrims, seeking religious freedom and the opportunity to establish a new life, embarked on this daring voyage from Southampton, England, and set sail on September 6, 1620. The Mayflower, a sturdy English cargo and passenger ship, was the only vessel to complete the journey, as several others in the fleet were forced to turn back due to various reasons. Upon reaching New England in late December, the Pilgrims faced the harsh realities of their new environment. They disembarked the Mayflower and established their settlement at Plymouth Rock, where they would build their homes and cultivate the land. The Mayflower continued to play a vital role in the early days of the colony, serving as a source of supplies and provisions until it was eventually sold in 1627. This photograph is a poignant reminder of the courage and determination of the Pilgrims and their journey to America on the Mayflower. The image, with the ship's sails billowing in the wind and the vast ocean stretching out before it, evokes the spirit of adventure and the rich history of this iconic vessel.
