23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Tirpitz the pig, a beloved naval mascot, graced the deck of HMS Glasgow during World War I. This iconic photograph, captured in 1916, showcases the playful spirit that brought morale and camaraderie to the British Royal Navy. HMS Glasgow, a Town-class cruiser, was a formidable warship of her time. Armed with a battery of twelve 6-inch guns, she was a force to be reckoned with on the battlefields of the First World War. Yet, amidst the steel and gunpowder, there was room for a gentle reminder of home. Enter Tirpitz, a pig named after the German battleship SMS Tirpitz, a formidable enemy of the British fleet. The crew of HMS Glasgow adopted this piglet as their mascot, providing a lighthearted contrast to the harsh realities of war. The name was a clever jab at the Germans, adding a touch of humor to the tense atmosphere of the time. Tirpitz was a source of joy and companionship for the sailors. He accompanied them on their missions, providing a sense of comfort and familiarity in the midst of chaos. The photograph captures him standing proudly on the deck, gazing out at the vast expanse of the sea. His presence served as a reminder that even in the most challenging of times, there was still room for companionship and levity. This photograph is a poignant reminder of the humanizing effect of animals in times of war. Tirpitz, the pig, became more than just a mascot; he was a symbol of hope, courage, and the enduring spirit of the British Royal Navy during World War I.
