23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Suffragettes Treatment by Police

EDITORS COMMENTS
is the powerful title of this cover page from a 1911 pamphlet published by the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU). The image on the cover graphically illustrates the harsh reality of the suffragettes' struggle for women's right to vote. The suffragettes, dressed in their iconic purple, white, and green colors, are shown being forcibly removed from a road by a large group of police officers. Their determined expressions and the officers' rough handling of them convey the intensity and conflict of the moment. The pamphlet, titled "The Treatment of the Womens Deputations by the Metropolitan Police," provides evidence of the violent treatment meted out to WSPU members during their peaceful protests on November 18th, 22nd, and 23rd, 1910. The document serves as a crucial historical record of the suffragettes' fight for women's suffrage and the police response to their protests. The suffragettes' campaign for the right to vote was a pivotal moment in the history of women's rights. Their militant tactics, which included protests, civil disobedience, and property damage, drew widespread attention to their cause. However, their actions also led to clashes with the police, resulting in arrests, imprisonment, and physical violence. This cover page is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the suffragettes in their quest for women's suffrage. It underscores the importance of peaceful protest and the role of activism in bringing about social change. The image and the accompanying evidence in the pamphlet serve as a testament to the courage and determination of the suffragettes and their enduring legacy in the fight for gender equality.
