17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative study captures a moment in time during the early years of the 20th century, as a group of soldiers take a break from their military duties in the picturesque surroundings of Chislehurst, England. The landscape, with its rolling hills and verdant foliage, provides a stark contrast to the uniformed figures in the foreground, each deep in thought or engaged in quiet conversation. The soldier in the center of the group, identified as Private P.J. Hill of the 20th Battalion, The County of London Regiment, adds a sense of historical context to the image. Having studied at the prestigious Lambeth School of Art in St. Oswald's Place, Upper Kennington Lane, Private Hill likely brought a keen artistic sensibility to his military service. His residence at 6 Amott Road, Peckham Rye, London in 1895 further adds to the biographical detail of this intriguing figure. As the world geared up for the First World War, soldiers from across the British Isles trained and prepared for the battles that lay ahead. This study offers a rare glimpse into the daily lives of these men, away from the chaos and intensity of the battlefield. The topographical details of the landscape, from the winding paths to the dappled sunlight filtering through the trees, serve as a poignant reminder of the beauty and tranquility that existed even amidst the turbulent times. This image is a testament to the rich history of military regiments and the complex lives of the individuals who served within their ranks. As we reflect on the sacrifices made by soldiers like Private Hill during times of war, we are reminded of the importance of preserving these historical records for future generations.
