17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Celebrating a Century of Innovation: Stockton-Darlington Railway's Centenary and the Return of Locomotion to Stockton Station September 27, 1825, marked a pivotal moment in the history of transportation in Britain as the Stockton and Darlington Railway officially opened, becoming the world's first inter-urban railway. This milestone event ushered in a new era of rail travel, revolutionizing the way people and goods were moved across long distances. A century later, in 1925, Stockton-on-Tees paid tribute to this historic occasion with a series of festivities, including the return of George Stephenson's iconic Locomotion No. 1 steam engine to Stockton Station. The engine, which had initially pulled the first public passenger train on the Stockton and Darlington Railway, was brought back to its birthplace to mark the centenary celebrations. In this evocative photograph from the centenary event, Locomotion No. 1 is shown performing once again at Stockton Station, surrounded by a crowd of onlookers. The engine, resplendent in its original livery, exudes an air of nostalgia and pride as it commemorates the railway's rich history. The photograph captures the essence of a bygone era, showcasing the significance of the Stockton and Darlington Railway in shaping the transport landscape of Britain and inspiring future innovations. This image is not only a testament to the railway's enduring legacy but also a reminder of the ingenuity and determination of the pioneers who made it all possible. The Stockton and Darlington Railway's centenary celebration was a fitting tribute to the past, present, and future of rail transport in Britain.
