17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This poignant photograph captures the moment of reunion between J. Whitter, a survivor steward from the ill-fated RMS Titanic, and Mrs. Robinson, a stewardess, upon their arrival in Plymouth, Devon on December 7, 1912. The image, sourced from Mary Evans Prints Online, provides a glimpse into the human stories that emerged from the tragic sinking of the Titanic on April 15, 1912. The Titanic, once hailed as an engineering marvel, went down in history as a symbol of hubris and human frailty. The ship's sinking resulted in the loss of over 1,500 lives, leaving countless families and communities in mourning. However, the story of survival is equally important, and this photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the men and women who managed to make it through the harrowing ordeal. J. Whitter and Mrs. Robinson, both members of the ship's crew, are seen here in their best clothes, looking relieved and grateful to have made it to safety. Their expressions convey a sense of relief and hope, a testament to the human spirit's resilience in the face of adversity. The photograph also serves as a reminder of the vital role that the crew played in the survival of the passengers, providing them with food, water, and comfort during the rescue efforts. The arrival of the survivors in Plymouth marked the beginning of a long and difficult journey towards healing and rebuilding. This photograph provides a poignant snapshot of a moment in history, one that serves as a reminder of the human stories that often get lost in the annals of time. The image is a powerful reminder of the importance of remembering the past, and the lessons that can be learned from it.
