23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This historic photograph, taken on July 28, 1923, captures a pivotal moment in the evolution of sports entertainment at Stamford Bridge football stadium. In the image, a man is seated at a table, his focused expression betrays the importance of the task at hand. He holds a telephone receiver to his ear, unaware that his voice is about to reach an unprecedented audience. The innovation responsible for this groundbreaking transmission is the loudspeaker, visible in the foreground. Six speakers, arranged in a semi-circle, await the man's voice. This technology, imported from the United States, was making its debut at Stamford Bridge, marking a significant step towards enhancing the spectator experience. The date, 28th of July in 1923, was a turning point in the annals of football history. The coming of the loudspeaker revolutionized the way announcements were made, instructions given, and information disseminated to the vast crowds that flocked to football matches. No longer would the roar of the crowd drown out crucial information. The man's voice, once confined to the telephone line, now travelled far and wide, reaching every corner of the expansive stadium. The image stands as a testament to the power of innovation and its ability to transform the way we engage with our favorite pastimes. This photograph, a rare find from the International Newsreel (ILN) collection, offers a glimpse into the past, reminding us of the inexorable march of progress and the enduring allure of the beautiful game.
