23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

1. Title: A Glimpse into the Past: Florence Hardy's Ink and Watercolour Sketch of the Grill Room at the South Kensington Museum, 1893 This exquisite ink and watercolour sketch, created by Florence Hardy in 1893, offers a captivating glimpse into the history of the South Kensington Museum, now known as the Victoria and Albert Museum. The image depicts the Grill Room, a space that once served as a social hub for the museum's visitors. Florence Hardy, the talented artist behind this work, was the sister of Dudley Hardy, a renowned poster artist, and the daughter of Thomas Bush Hardy, a distinguished marine artist. Her mastery of ink and watercolour techniques is evident in the intricate details and rich colours of this sketch. The South Kensington Museum, founded in 1852, was a pioneering institution dedicated to art and design. The Grill Room, with its ornate decor and inviting atmosphere, provided a welcoming space for visitors to relax and socialize after exploring the museum's extensive collections. This sketch, created circa 1893, captures the essence of the Grill Room's charm and elegance. The intricate patterns on the walls, the ornate fireplace, and the elegant tables and chairs are all rendered with meticulous attention to detail. The warm, inviting atmosphere is further emphasized by the soft, muted tones of the watercolour and the delicate lines of the ink. As we gaze upon this beautiful work of art, we are transported back in time to a moment in the South Kensington Museum's history when art, design, and social interaction came together in a harmonious blend. Florence Hardy's sketch serves as a testament to the enduring allure of the past and the power of art to capture and preserve it for future generations.
