17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the distinguished visage of William Somerset Maugham, the renowned English novelist and short story writer, as he posed for the camera in 1936. With a signature moustache and a small goatee, Maugham's piercing gaze and serious expression convey the depth and intensity of his literary genius. The image finds him dressed in a formal attire, complete with a crisp white shirt, a dark tie, and a signature monogrammed initials 'W.S.M.' on his waistcoat. The presence of a cigar in his hand adds an air of sophistication and worldliness to the portrait. Born on January 25, 1874, in Paris, France, Maugham's literary career spanned over six decades, making him one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. He began writing at a young age and published his first novel, 'Liza of Lambeth,' in 1897. Over the years, he produced a vast body of work, including novels, short stories, essays, and plays. Some of his most famous works include 'Of Human Bondage,' 'The Moon and Sixpence,' 'Cakes and Ale,' and 'The Razor's Edge.' Maugham's writing was marked by its psychological insight, wit, and social commentary. He was known for his ability to capture the complexities of human relationships and the human condition, often exploring themes of love, desire, and the search for meaning and identity. His works have been translated into numerous languages and continue to be widely read and studied around the world. This photograph is a testament to the enduring legacy of William Somerset Maugham as a literary giant and a master storyteller. It offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when the written word held the power to captivate and inspire.
