17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In the vibrant and eclectic world of body art, the roaring twenties marked a significant shift in the realm of feminine beauty trends. This photograph, taken in a London salon in 1929, showcases an intriguing and daring new craze: the tattooing of the back with serpents and delicate butterflies. The image reveals a young woman seated before a mirror, her back bared to the waist, as a skilled tattoo artist carefully inks a sinuous serpent onto her skin. The serpent, adorned with intricate patterns and scales, winds its way up her spine, evoking a sense of power and allure. The artist's focused gaze and the woman's serene expression suggest a deep connection between the two, as they collaborate to create a work of art that transcends the boundaries of conventional beauty. The tattoo parlor, with its dimly lit interior and ornate Japanese-inspired screen, exudes an air of mystery and exoticism. The woman's toilet, placed nearby, hints at the temporary nature of the traditional beauty rituals that once dominated this space. However, the permanence of the tattoo now takes center stage, symbolizing a bold and enduring expression of individuality and self-empowerment. The latest craze for tattooing the back with serpents and butterflies was a testament to the cultural shifts of the 1920s and 1930s. This daring trend, which defied societal norms and challenged the conventional notions of feminine beauty, continues to captivate and inspire generations. This photograph, with its timeless composition and evocative subject matter, serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of body art and the enduring allure of the serpent.
