23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph depicts the historic sailboat, Slocum's Spray, which became the first vessel to circumnavigate the world single-handed. Built and sailed by the remarkable Joshua Slocum between 1895 and 1896, this small 36-foot sloop defied the odds and proved that a solo voyage around the globe was not only possible but also an achievable feat for an intrepid sailor. Born in 1844 in Nova Scotia, Canada, Slocum had already led an adventurous life before embarking on this monumental journey. He had spent years at sea as a fisherman, a lighthouse keeper, and a sailor on various merchant vessels. However, it was his passion for sailing and exploration that drove him to rebuild the Spray, which was originally a fishing boat, and set sail on his daring quest. The Spray, with its distinctive red sails and simple design, carried Slocum across the treacherous waters of the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. He faced numerous challenges during his voyage, including storms, pirates, and even being marooned on an uninhabited island. Yet, Slocum's determination, resourcefulness, and seamanship enabled him to overcome each obstacle and complete his journey. Upon his return to the United States in 1897, Slocum was hailed as a hero and a pioneer in the world of solo sailing. His book, "Sailing Alone Around the World," chronicled his incredible adventure and inspired generations of sailors to follow in his footsteps. Today, the Spray remains a symbol of human perseverance and the spirit of adventure, and this photograph serves as a testament to the incredible journey of one man and his small but mighty sailboat.
