23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This sketch drawing is a study for Leonardo da Vinci's renowned painting, "Virgin of the Rocks," housed at The Science and Technology Museum in Milan, Italy. Dating back to the 15th century, this masterpiece is a prime example of the Renaissance artist's extraordinary talent and curiosity. Leonardo da Vinci's "Virgin of the Rocks" is a religious painting that depicts the Virgin Mary cradling the infant Jesus, surrounded by the figures of St. Anne, St. John the Baptist, and an angel. In this intriguing sketch, Leonardo meticulously studied the textures and forms of the rocks that serve as the backdrop to the sacred scene. His keen observation and attention to detail are evident in the careful rendering of the rocks' various shapes, sizes, and intricacies. The sketch offers a rare glimpse into Leonardo's creative process, revealing his dedication to capturing the natural world with precision and accuracy. As a polymath, Leonardo was not only an accomplished painter but also an inventor, scientist, and engineer. His insatiable curiosity drove him to explore the intricacies of the natural world, which is reflected in this exquisite study. The "Virgin of the Rocks" painting and its accompanying studies, including this sketch, continue to captivate audiences and inspire wonder. They serve as a testament to Leonardo da Vinci's enduring legacy as a visionary artist and pioneering thinker. This sketch, in particular, offers a unique perspective on the artist's approach to his craft and his deep connection to the world around him.
