17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Sir Joseph Paxton (1801-1865): A Visionary Gardener and Architect of the Victorian Era This portrait captures the essence of Sir Joseph Paxton, a remarkable figure of the Victorian era who began his career as a humble gardener and rose to international acclaim through his groundbreaking work at Chatsworth, the historic estate of the Duke of Devonshire. Born in 1801, Paxton's passion for horticulture blossomed early, and his exceptional talent soon caught the attention of the Duke. Over the years, he transformed the Duke's gardens into a botanical wonderland, most notably, with his innovative glasshouses. These architectural marvels, including the Crystal Palace and the Orangery, revolutionized the way exotic plants were cultivated and displayed in England, making Chatsworth a must-visit destination for Victorian society. Paxton's glasshouses were not only architectural feats but also testaments to his deep understanding of botany and horticulture. He was a pioneer in the use of iron and glass structures to create controlled environments for plants, enabling the cultivation of a diverse range of exotic species that would otherwise be impossible to grow in the British climate. This image of Sir Joseph Paxton, taken in the mid-19th century, showcases the visionary and determined man behind the glasshouses. With his keen intellect and innovative spirit, he left an indelible mark on the world of horticulture and architecture, paving the way for future generations to explore the wonders of the natural world. Sir Joseph Paxton's legacy continues to inspire us today, as we marvel at the beauty and diversity of the plants he cultivated and the structures he created over a century and a half ago. This portrait is a testament to his enduring influence and a reminder of the power of human ingenuity and passion.
