17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Sir Charles Lock Eastlake (1793-1865): A Visionary English Painter and Art Critic This evocative portrait captures the distinguished visage of Sir Charles Lock Eastlake, an influential English painter and art critic, as he gazes introspectively into the distance. Born on February 15, 1793, in Holborn, London, Eastlake's artistic prowess and critical acumen left an indelible mark on the art world of the 19th century. Eastlake's sartorial elegance is on full display in this image, with his crisp waistcoat and cravat adding an air of refinement to his appearance. The artist's signature, elegantly penned in the lower right corner, serves as a testament to the authenticity of the image and the legacy of the man it portrays. Eastlake's career spanned over five decades, during which he made significant contributions to both the painting and critical spheres of the art world. He is perhaps best known for his meticulously detailed and atmospheric landscapes, which often featured historical subjects and were characterized by their rich, evocative colors. As an art critic, Eastlake was a prolific writer and a leading voice in the art world. He authored numerous articles and books, including the influential "A History of the Galleries and Cabinets of Art in England," which provided a comprehensive survey of the country's artistic heritage. Eastlake's influence extended beyond the realm of art, as he played a key role in the establishment of the National Gallery in London and the founding of the Royal Academy Schools. His visionary approach to art and unwavering commitment to preserving the artistic legacy of his time continue to inspire and captivate audiences to this day. This portrait offers a glimpse into the life and legacy of a truly remarkable figure in the annals of English art history.
