23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Sir Charles Wager (1666-1743): A Naval Commander of Distinction and Political Influence This striking portrait captures the visage of Sir Charles Wager, an esteemed naval commander, Admiral of the White, and the first Lord of the Admiralty during the early 18th century. Born in 1666, Wager rose through the ranks of the Royal Navy, demonstrating exceptional skill and bravery in battle. He first gained recognition for his role in the Battle of Beachy Head in 1690, where he commanded the HMS Firebrand and played a crucial role in the English victory. Wager's military prowess was not limited to the sea. He also distinguished himself on land, participating in the Battle of Blenheim in 1704, which was a significant victory for the Allied forces against the French. His military successes earned him the favor of the British monarchy, and he was appointed as the Admiral of the White in 1714. In 1718, Wager was appointed as the first Lord of the Admiralty, a position that granted him significant political influence. During his tenure, he oversaw the expansion of the Royal Navy and implemented various reforms to improve its efficiency and effectiveness. He also played a crucial role in the War of the Quadruple Alliance against Spain, which further solidified his reputation as a capable naval leader. Despite his many accomplishments, Wager's tenure as the first Lord of the Admiralty was not without controversy. He was embroiled in several disputes with other naval commanders and faced criticism for his handling of certain military operations. Nevertheless, his contributions to the British navy and his political influence during a pivotal period in British history are undeniable. This portrait, a testament to Sir Charles Wager's distinguished naval career and political influence, captures the essence of a man who played a vital role in shaping the future of the British navy and the country as a whole.
