1856 Magic Natives Secret Shown Substances Tools Paranormal

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This intriguing photograph captures a pivotal moment in the initiation ceremony of newcomers to a secret society of medicine men among the Native American tribes of North America in the year 1856. The image offers a glimpse into the rich and complex world of traditional healing practices, which were deeply rooted in the spiritual beliefs and cultural traditions of indigenous communities. The new initiates, dressed in traditional garb and adorned with ceremonial markings, are being shown the magic objects and substances that will be the tools of their trade. These items, imbued with spiritual power, were believed to have the ability to heal the sick, ward off evil spirits, and restore balance to the natural world. The medicine men, who were revered figures in their communities, held a deep understanding of the natural world and the interconnectedness of all living things. They were skilled herbalists, healers, and diviners, who used their knowledge to help their people navigate the challenges of daily life and maintain their health and well-being. The objects and substances shown in the photograph include a variety of herbs, stones, bones, and other natural materials. Some of these items may have been used for specific healing purposes, while others may have been used for ceremonial or protective purposes. The exact meanings and uses of these objects would have been passed down through generations and guarded as sacred knowledge. This photograph offers a rare and valuable glimpse into the world of Native American medicine men and their healing practices, which have long been a source of fascination and intrigue. It is a reminder of the rich cultural heritage and spiritual traditions that have shaped the history of North America and continue to inspire and influence us today.
