23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Salim Road, Mombasa, Kenya, East Africa (circa 1940) - A snapshot of colonial life in Mombasa, Kenya during the 1940s. This photograph captures the bustling Salim Road, a major thoroughfare in the heart of the city. The image is a testament to the diverse mix of cultures and communities that coexisted during the British colonial era. On the right side of the road, a row of European-style buildings, with their whitewashed walls and red-tiled roofs, stand tall and imposing. These structures housed the offices and residences of the British colonial administration and the affluent European community. On the left side of the road, the scene shifts dramatically. Here, we see a cluster of African shops selling local curios and textiles. The shops, with their colorful displays, are run by local entrepreneurs, many of whom catered to the demand for African artifacts and textiles from the European community. In the foreground, a car with a British colonial flag on its bonnet is parked on the side of the road. Pedestrians, both European and African, make their way along the pavement, while a few cyclists navigate the busy street. A man in a white shirt and shorts, possibly an African employee of the colonial administration, walks along the sidewalk, carrying a briefcase. The image offers a glimpse into the complex and multifaceted nature of life in Mombasa during the colonial era, with its blend of European and African cultures, and the coexistence of different communities and economies.
