23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
SMS Prinzregent Luitpold: A Monumental Symbol of Imperial German Naval Power during World War I This evocative photograph captures the majestic SMS Prinzregent Luitpold, a German Imperial Navy battleship of the Kaiser class, as it cuts through the water with unyielding determination. Launched in 1912, this warship was named after Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria and was one of the most formidable vessels in the German fleet. As tensions between European powers escalated, the SMS Prinzregent Luitpold played a pivotal role in the Imperial German Navy's strategy during World War I. In May 1916, it took part in the Battle of Jutland, the largest naval battle of the war, where it engaged British forces in an epic clash of maritime might. Despite the intense fighting, the Prinzregent Luitpold emerged relatively unscathed, a testament to its robust design and the skill of its crew. However, the tide of the war turned against Germany, and in November 1918, the country's leaders signed the Armistice of Compiègne, marking the end of the First World War. In June 1919, the SMS Prinzregent Luitpold, along with other German warships, was interned in the British Royal Navy's base at Scapa Flow. In a final act of defiance, the German sailors scuttled their ships to prevent them from falling into the hands of the Allies. The SMS Prinzregent Luitpold, once a symbol of imperial power and naval prowess, now lies submerged in the cold waters of the North Sea, a poignant reminder of the sacrifices and struggles of a bygone era. This photograph, taken in 1914, offers a glimpse into a time when the SMS Prinzregent Luitpold was still a formidable presence on the high seas, embodying the ambitions and aspirations of the German Empire during the early years of the First World War.
