17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this intriguing photograph, Viscount Robin Maugham, a renowned author and traveler, is seen peering intently into a Peep-Show machine located on the Brighton Pier during the 1960s. The image captures a moment of quiet fascination as Maugham, dressed in a smart jacket and tie, becomes engrossed in the hidden world revealed through the small, round window of the machine. Brighton, with its vibrant seaside atmosphere and reputation for being a place of leisure and amusement, was a popular destination for Maugham during this period. The Peep-Show, with its promise of titillation and the allure of the forbidden, was just one of the many attractions that drew visitors to the pier. The Peep-Show, a precursor to modern-day adult entertainment, offered a voyeuristic glimpse into a world that was often considered naughty or risqué. The machine's ability to offer a private viewing experience added to its appeal, making it a popular pastime for those seeking a thrill or a moment of escape. Maugham's expression in the photograph suggests a sense of curiosity and intrigue, as if he is lost in the world that lies beyond the machine's window. The image offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when the Peep-Show was a common sight on the British seaside and voyeurism was a form of leisurely entertainment. This photograph is a fascinating snapshot of a bygone era, capturing a moment in time when the line between the ordinary and the extraordinary was blurred, and the allure of the forbidden was a source of both amusement and intrigue.
