31"x27" (79x69cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 24x20 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 31x27 inches (787x685mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

1. Title: A Portrait of René-Jacques Croissant de Garangeot (1688-1759), French Medical Pioneer This evocative portrait captures the enigmatic figure of René-Jacques Croissant de Garangeot (1688-1759), a renowned French medical practitioner and anatomist of the 18th century. The image, adorned with intricate lace and a voluminous curly wig, offers a glimpse into the world of the Old Regime's medical elite. Born in Paris, France, in 1688, Croissant de Garangeot made significant contributions to the fields of anatomy and surgery. He was a dedicated anatomist, and his meticulous studies of the human body led to numerous discoveries and advancements in medical knowledge. His groundbreaking work on the thoracic duct, the largest lymphatic vessel in the human body, is still celebrated in the medical community. The portrait showcases Croissant de Garangeot's refined attire, with a lacy shirt and carefully arranged buttons, reflecting the opulence and elegance of the Old Regime. The curly wig, a fashion statement of the time, adds an element of sophistication to the image. Despite his achievements, Croissant de Garangeot's life was marked by controversy. He was involved in a public feud with fellow anatomist, Jacques Dubois, which led to a series of public debates and disputes. This period of intense intellectual discourse ultimately advanced the field of anatomy and contributed to the development of modern medical science. Croissant de Garangeot's legacy extends beyond his scientific discoveries. He is remembered as a pioneer in the history of medicine, a man who dared to challenge conventional wisdom and expand the boundaries of knowledge. This portrait serves as a testament to his enduring influence on the medical world and the broader cultural landscape of the Old Regime.
