23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Raper Drawing No. 11: A Captivating View of the Sugar Loaf and the Lyons Rump at the Cape of Good Hope This exquisite 18th-century drawing, titled "Views in the neighbourhood of the Cape of Good Hope. (a) the Sugar Loaf and the Lyons Rump & Sugar-Loaf on with the Table-Land," is a breathtaking representation of the natural beauty of South Africa's iconic landmarks. Created by renowned English artist George Raper between 1768 and 1797, this illustration offers a unique perspective of the Cape of Good Hope, a significant historical site and a popular tourist destination even today. The drawing showcases two distinct landforms, the Sugar Loaf and the Lyons Rump, situated in the vicinity of the Cape of Good Hope. The Sugar Loaf, a granite peak with a distinctive conical shape, stands proudly on the left side of the image. Its name is derived from its resemblance to a large lump of sugar. The Lyons Rump, on the right, is a smaller, flat-topped hill with a more rugged appearance. Both landforms are nestled against the vast expanse of the Table-Land, a large, flat-topped plateau that stretches along the Atlantic coast. The illustration also captures the serene beauty of the seascape, with the azure waters of the Atlantic Ocean gently lapping against the rocky shores. The sun casts a warm, golden glow over the scene, highlighting the intricate geomorphology of the land and the tranquility of the daytime setting. Raper's meticulous attention to detail and his ability to capture the essence of the landscape make this drawing an invaluable historical record and a stunning work of art. This illustration offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when the natural wonders of the world were a source of fascination and inspiration.
