17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This enchanting photograph captures a moment in time as Princess Alice, the second daughter and third child of Queen Victoria, poses with her husband, Grand Duke Louis of Hesse-Darmstadt, and their two eldest children, Victoria and Elisabeth, in England around 1867. Princess Alice, born in 1843, was known for her beauty and vivacious personality, making her a favorite among her family and the public. Her marriage to Grand Duke Louis, the heir to the Grand Duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt, was a love match, and they had seven children together. In this image, Alice, dressed in a simple yet elegant gown, sits between her husband and eldest daughter Victoria, who is wearing a white dress and holding a bouquet of flowers. Elisabeth, known as Ella, stands beside her father, wearing a frilly white dress and holding a doll. The family's affectionate expressions and relaxed poses convey a sense of happiness and contentment. The photograph was likely taken during a visit to England, where the Hesse-Darmstadt family frequently spent time due to Queen Victoria's close relationship with her daughter. Alice and her husband's time in England was a happy period in their lives, and they were well-loved by the British people. Tragically, Princess Alice's life was cut short when she drowned in a shipwreck off the coast of Greece in 1878, at the age of 34. Her death was a shock to the royal family and the public, and she was mourned deeply. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of Alice's happy family life and her enduring legacy as a beloved princess and mother.
