17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative photograph, the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VIII and Duke of Windsor, is captured in the prime of his adventurous spirit during his most recent safari in East Africa. The Prince, dressed in safari attire, is seen in a jovial mood as he shares a light moment with Denys Finch-Hatton, a renowned big game hunter and the inspiration for the character of Denys Finch Hatton in Karen Blixen's autobiographical novel, "Out of Africa." The novel, published under the pen name Isak Dinesen, immortalized Finch-Hatton's charisma and daring exploits in the African wilderness. The year was 1931, and the Prince's safari party had set out to explore the vast plains and rugged landscapes of Kenya. Finch-Hatton, an accomplished pilot, accompanied the Prince in his Gypsy Moth biplane, adding an extra dimension to their adventure. The photograph captures the camaraderie and excitement that defined their journey. Tragically, this photograph was taken shortly before Finch-Hatton's untimely death. On March 24, 1931, just a few weeks after this image was taken, Finch-Hatton's Gypsy Moth crashed during a flight, claiming his life. The loss of the charismatic hunter left a profound impact on the Prince and the safari party, adding a poignant undertone to their African adventure. This photograph stands as a testament to the Prince's adventurous spirit and his friendship with the legendary Denys Finch-Hatton, a man whose life was as captivating as the African wilderness itself.
