1962 Aero Basse Flers Normandie Normandy Orne
23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This vibrant and captivating poster, created by French artist Henry Goussin for the Aero Club de Basse-Normandie in 1962, showcases the exhilarating world of aviation during the 1960s. The poster's bold design, dominated by the rich red, pink, and white hues, immediately draws the viewer's attention to the central image of a sleek, white aeroplane soaring through a clear, blue sky. The plane's wings are spread wide, as if embracing the freedom of flight, while the pilot, dressed in a red flight suit and goggles, gazes intently ahead. The Aero Club de Basse-Normandie, based in Flers de l'Orne, was a prominent aviation organization in Normandy, France, dedicated to promoting and encouraging the sport of flying. This poster, with its dynamic composition and evocative use of color, was likely produced to promote the club and its activities to a wider audience. The poster's tagline, "Voler, c'est vivre" (To fly is to live), encapsulates the sense of adventure and excitement that comes with aviation and reinforces the idea that flying is a fundamental aspect of living. The poster's design is a testament to the enduring appeal of aviation and the thrill of flight, even as technology and the industry have evolved over the decades. This iconic piece of aviation history, a treasure from the 1960s, is a must-have for any collector of vintage posters, aviation memorabilia, or those with a passion for the history of flight.
