23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this poignant photograph taken in the late 1970s, a small fair-haired boy is seen walking alone in the communal back yard of a condemned slum housing development in Brinksway, Stockport, Cheshire, England. The unpaved yard is filled with dustbins and washing lines, creating a stark contrast to the dilapidated buildings that surround the area. The property in this image was demolished shortly after this photograph was taken, a testament to the ongoing struggle against poverty and substandard living conditions in the community. The 1970s were a period of significant social and economic change in the United Kingdom, with many areas experiencing high levels of poverty and deprivation. Slum housing, like that depicted in this photograph, was a common sight in urban areas, particularly in industrial towns and cities. The living conditions in these areas were often cramped, unsanitary, and dangerous, with inadequate heating, water, and sanitation. Despite these challenges, the boy in the photograph appears determined as he walks past the dustbins and washing lines, his focus on the path ahead. His fair hair catches the light, adding a sense of innocence and vulnerability to the image. The photograph serves as a powerful reminder of the need to address poverty and housing inequality, and to ensure that all members of society have access to safe, affordable, and decent housing. The photograph also highlights the importance of preserving historical records of social and economic conditions, allowing future generations to learn from the past and work towards a more equitable and just society. The condemned housing development in Brinksway may no longer exist, but the memory of the struggles faced by those who lived there remains an important part of our collective history.
