17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Plate 56: Phasianus colchicus formosanus, the Common or Formosan Pheasant (Joseph Wolf, from Daniel Giraud Elliot's A Monograph of the Phasianid, or Family of the Pheasants, 1872). This exquisite illustration showcases the striking features of the Common Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus), specifically the Formosan subspecies (P. c. formosanus). The bird is depicted in detail, with its distinctive brown plumage, broad collar, and distinctive ear coverts. Its face is turned towards the viewer, revealing its piercing, yellow eyes and the intricate anatomy of its beak. The branch behind the bird adds a naturalistic touch to the composition, while also highlighting the bird's size and stature. The Common Pheasant is an eudicot, belonging to the order Galliformes and the family Phasianidae. It is an angiosperm, meaning it derives nutrients from flowering plants, specifically from the Fabaceae family. This eurosid, or second division of the angiosperms, is characterized by having a single embryonic cotyledon. The Fabaceae family, also known as the legume family, is one of the largest families of angiosperms, with over 20,000 known species. The Common Pheasant is a diurnal bird, meaning it is active during the daytime. It is native to Europe, Asia, and North America, and is known for its elaborate courtship displays and its role as a game bird. This illustration, created in the 19th century by the renowned natural history artist Joseph Wolf, remains an accurate and beautiful representation of this bird species.
