17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the chaotic scene on the quayside of Lima, Peru in 1881 as people prepared to evacuate the city during the War of the Pacific against Chile. The harbor, bustling with activity, serves as a backdrop to the frenzied efforts of the population to save themselves and their belongings. Soldiers and civilians work together to load supplies and passengers onto ships, while women and children watch anxiously from the shore. The historical significance of this image lies in its documentation of a pivotal moment in Peruvian history, when the fate of the city hung in the balance. The War of the Pacific, which lasted from 1879 to 1883, resulted in a devastating defeat for Peru and Chile, leading to the loss of territory and resources. This photograph offers a glimpse into the past, providing a visual record of the determination and resilience of the people of Lima in the face of adversity." "The image, taken from Mary Evans Picture Library, is a poignant reminder of the human cost of war and the importance of preserving historical records for future generations. The photograph's composition, with the ships in the foreground and the city skyline in the background, adds to its visual impact and makes it a valuable addition to any collection of historical photographs. The intricate details of the people, their clothing, and the ships can be appreciated up close, making this an excellent choice for anyone interested in Peruvian history or the history of warfare."
