17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
A Most Fateful Night in the House of Lords: The Passing of the Veto Bill without the Creation of New Peers (1911) This evocative illustration by Samuel Begg captures the tense atmosphere of a pivotal moment in British political history: the passing of the Parliament Act of 1911 in the House of Lords. The image depicts peers deeply engaged in debate, their expressions revealing a range of emotions from intense concentration to resolute determination. At the heart of the controversy was the question of whether the Lords should insist on amendments to the Parliament Bill, which aimed to limit the Lords' power to veto legislation passed by the House of Commons. The Liberal government, led by Prime Minister H.H. Asquith, sought to curb the Lords' influence in the legislative process, leading to a constitutional crisis. The scene unfolds in the ornate, dimly lit chamber of the House of Lords. The Speaker, Lord Randolph Churchill, stands at the rostrum, poised to announce the result of the division. The tension in the room is palpable, as peers lean forward, some in anticipation, others in disbelief. The outcome of the vote would determine the balance of power between the two houses of Parliament and set a precedent for future relations between the executive and legislative branches. Begg's masterful use of chiaroscuro and dramatic composition heightens the sense of drama and importance. The illustration offers a unique glimpse into the inner workings of the House of Lords during a time of political upheaval and constitutional change.
