23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
1. Title: "The Sacrificial Scene on the South Frieze of the Parthenon: A Testament to Ancient Greek Religion and Ritual" The South Frieze of the Parthenon, a masterpiece of ancient Greek art, is a captivating testament to the religious and cultural practices of ancient Athens during the 5th century BC. Housed in the British Museum in London, England, this fragmented yet evocative relief showcases a scene of sacrifice, offering a glimpse into the sacred rituals of the time. The scene depicts a procession of Athenian citizens, including herdsmen and a young man, leading a bull and a cow towards the altar of the goddess Athena. The animals are adorned with garlands and their heads are wreathed, signifying their sacred status. The sacrificers are dressed in the traditional chiton and himation, their faces expressive with anticipation and reverence. The South Frieze is a part of the Panathenaic procession, which was held annually in honor of Athena, the goddess of wisdom, war, and crafts. The scene represents the culmination of the procession, where the animals were sacrificed and their meat was distributed among the citizens as a communal feast. The intricate details of the relief, from the folds of the clothing to the textures of the animals' coats, reveal the skill and artistry of the ancient Greek sculptors. The relief also showcases the influence of the god Pan, who is depicted playing his pipes in the background, adding an element of merriment to the solemn ritual. The South Frieze of the Parthenon is a powerful reminder of the rich history and cultural significance of ancient Greece, and its preservation in the British Museum allows us to continue exploring and learning from the past.
