17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases an early Otis electric elevator, a groundbreaking invention that revolutionized vertical transportation in the late 19th century. Dated to around 1890, this machine represents a significant milestone in the evolution of the elevator industry. The sleek, metal structure stands proudly in a spacious room, its intricate mechanical details on full display. The Otis electric elevator was a remarkable departure from the traditional hydraulic lifts that had dominated the market up until this point. With its electric motor, this elevator offered smoother, faster, and more efficient service, making it an attractive alternative for both residential and institutional buildings. The use of electric power also eliminated the need for a separate water tank and pump, making the installation process simpler and more cost-effective. The elevator's design is a marvel of engineering, with its complex network of pulleys, cables, and gears working in harmony to lift and lower the car. The car itself is suspended from a system of ropes and counterweights, which balance the weight of the car and the passengers as it moves between floors. The elevator's control panel, located at the top of the machine, allows the operator to manage the elevator's movement with precision. This photograph offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, showcasing the ingenuity and innovation that defined the early days of the elevator industry. The Otis electric elevator represented a turning point in the way we move vertically, paving the way for the modern elevators we know today. This image is a testament to the enduring allure of industrial machinery and the human ingenuity that drives progress.
