17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning watercolor print depicts an old male Asian Paradise Flycatcher (Terpsiphone paradisi), a vibrant and intriguing bird native to the Indian subcontinent. The painting is an original work by the renowned English naturalist and illustrator, Samuel Richard Tickell (c.1809-1875). The artwork is believed to have been created around 1848, as indicated by the dates and collection details provided. Tickell's meticulous illustration captures the bird's striking features, from its iridescent green and blue plumage to its distinctive long, curved tail feathers. In this particular depiction, the bird is shown in a side view, revealing the intricate details of its feathers and the subtle textures of its body. This watercolor is part of a larger set of volumes on Indian birds that were used as source material for Tickell's work on Indian mammals and other animals. The illustrations were produced for the Library of the Zoological Society of London, showcasing Tickell's exceptional skill and dedication to documenting the natural world. The Asian Paradise Flycatcher is a member of the monarchidae family, also known as flycatchers, and is native to the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and the Eastern Himalayas. These birds are known for their elaborate courtship displays, which involve the male's vibrant plumage and acrobatic flight patterns. This historical watercolor print offers a fascinating glimpse into the natural history of the Asian Paradise Flycatcher and the remarkable work of Samuel Richard Tickell, whose contributions to ornithology continue to inspire and captivate audiences today.
