17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative image captures the tense atmosphere of Daniel O'Connell's trial in 1844, an pivotal moment in Irish history. O'Connell, a prominent Irish MP and leader of the Repeal Association, was accused of sedition for his efforts to repeal the Act of Union between Ireland and Great Britain. The Act of Union, passed in 1800, had merged the Irish and British parliaments, effectively ending Irish self-governance. O'Connell's campaign for repeal gained widespread support among the Irish population, leading to fears of unrest and unrest among the British authorities. In this courtroom scene, O'Connell, dressed in a dark suit and wearing a top hat, listens intently as the judge delivers his sentence. Surrounded by a sea of somber-faced onlookers, the tension in the room is palpable. The judge, seated at a high bench, delivers a stern and unyielding verdict, sentencing O'Connell to a year in prison. However, the story does not end there. O'Connell's supporters, both in Ireland and abroad, were outraged by the sentence and rallied to his cause. Public protests and demonstrations ensued, and within three months, O'Connell was released due to popular pressure and ill health. The trial and subsequent release only served to strengthen O'Connell's reputation as a champion of Irish rights and further fueled the movement for Irish independence. This historic photograph, taken from the Mary Evans Picture Library, offers a glimpse into a pivotal moment in Irish history, one that continues to resonate with the Irish people to this day.
