Norbury Stop Terminus Tram Way Tram

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Norbury Tramway Terminus, London (1905): A Glimpse into the Past of Urban Transport This evocative photograph captures the Norbury Tramway Terminus in London, as it appeared over a century ago in 1905. The image transports us back in time, offering a fascinating glimpse into the history of urban transport in the British capital. At the heart of the scene, a double-decker tram, adorned with ornate decorations, stands proudly at the terminus, ready to embark on its journey. The tram, a symbol of progress and modernity during the early 20th century, was an essential part of London's transport network, providing affordable and efficient travel for the city's growing population. Surrounding the tram, the bustling terminus comes alive with activity. Passengers, dressed in fashionable Edwardian attire, can be seen boarding and disembarking from the tram, while others wait patiently for their turn. The atmosphere is lively, filled with the sounds of chatter and the clanging of tram doors. The photograph also reveals the architectural charm of the terminus, with its red brick walls, intricate ironwork, and ornate signage. The design reflects the attention to detail and craftsmanship that was characteristic of the era. As we gaze at this image, we are reminded of the rich history of London's transport system and the important role that trams played in shaping the city's urban landscape. Today, while much has changed, the spirit of innovation and progress that this photograph encapsulates remains an integral part of London's transport story.
