17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This enchanting illustration captures the vibrant and close-knit Italian community residing off Leather Lane in London during the early 1900s. Amidst the bustling streets of Holborn and Finsbury, these countrymen from Italy had established a colony, creating a unique enclave filled with the warmth and charm of their homeland. The year was 1903, and the London County Council had begun the process of gradually dismantling this community due to overcrowding concerns. Yet, as we gaze upon this picturesque scene, it is impossible not to be moved by the sight of families gathered around their modest homes, children playing in the streets, and the mingling of laughter and conversation that filled the air. The Italian immigrants, many of whom had recently emigrated from their native land, had managed to create a sense of belonging and unity amidst the challenges of their new environment. Their resilience and determination to maintain their cultural identity in the face of adversity is a testament to the human spirit. The illustration also serves as a poignant reminder of the racial and ethnic diversity that once characterized the fabric of London's population. The various types of people who settled in this city throughout history have enriched its cultural landscape, leaving an indelible mark on its history and identity. As we admire the beauty and warmth of this bygone era, we are reminded of the importance of preserving the stories and memories of the communities that have shaped our cities and our world.
