17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time to the late 19th century, during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, as we explore this image from The Keasbury-Gordon Photograph Archive Collection, available exclusively on Mary Evans Prints Online. This vintage photograph depicts a traction engine, a marvel of industrial innovation during this period, hard at work at a sawmill. The traction engine, a precursor to the modern steam locomotive, was a powerful and versatile machine that could be used for various purposes, including hauling heavy loads and generating power. In this scene, the engine is harnessed to a series of belts, which in turn power the sawmill's machinery. Wood logs are stacked high nearby, ready to be processed into lumber. The scene is bathed in the soft, warm glow of a lantern, casting an intriguing and mysterious atmosphere over the image. The engine's intricate details are on full display, from the large, ornate boiler to the intricate gears and levers. Workers clad in heavy, protective clothing can be seen in the background, tending to the machinery and ensuring that the sawmill runs smoothly. This photograph offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, showcasing the ingenuity and determination of the industrial age. It is a reminder of the transformative power of technology and the profound impact it had on our world. As we admire the beauty and complexity of this traction engine at the sawmill, we are transported back to a time when progress was measured not in digital clicks or social media likes, but in the tangible, physical achievements of human ingenuity.
