17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Facts are Stranger than Fiction

EDITORS COMMENTS
: A Humorous Caricature by Stan Terry, 1925 In this delightful caricature by Stan Terry, titled "Facts are Stranger than Fiction," we find ourselves in the midst of an amusing kitchen scene. The flustered cook, with a look of shock and disbelief on his face, is intently perusing a stack of manuscripts spread out before him. The assertive housemaid, her arms crossed and a smirk playing at the corners of her mouth, stands behind him, ready to break the news. Cook (perusing MSS of mistress, a famous novelist): "I say-the missus next book ain't art going to be a scorcher!" Housemaid: "You silly-that's her diary you've got hold of!" Stan Terry, a prolific illustrator of the 1920s, masterfully captures the essence of this humorous moment. Terry's work graced the pages of Punch, The Sketch, The Bystander, and Tatler, among other publications. This particular illustration, dated 1925, showcases Terry's ability to infuse everyday life with a touch of whimsy and humor. The cook's expression of disbelief and the housemaid's knowing smirk create a sense of intrigue and anticipation. The viewer is left wondering what secrets the diary might hold and how the cook will react once he discovers the truth. This caricature is a testament to Terry's skill in capturing the human condition and the unexpected twists that life can bring. As the cook and housemaid continue their exchange, we are reminded that "Facts are Stranger than Fiction." This timeless phrase, often attributed to the English writer, Philip Roth, holds true even today. Terry's illustration invites us to appreciate the humor and absurdity of life, and to find joy in the unexpected twists and turns that come our way.
