23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the bustling harbor of Tuamasina, also known as Tamatave, in Madagascar during the early 1900s. The image offers a glimpse into the rich maritime history of this East African island nation. The harbor, with its protective jetty, was a vital link to the outside world for the people of Madagascar. The steam-powered tugboat and barge in the foreground illustrate the importance of water transportation during this era. The tugboat, with its impressive smokestack, would have been used to tow larger vessels into the harbor, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods and people. The waterfront teems with activity, with people going about their daily tasks. The Malagasy people, dressed in traditional clothing, can be seen loading and unloading cargo from the boats. The vibrant colors of their clothing and the intricate patterns of their textiles add a touch of exoticism to the scene. The harbor at Tuamasina was a melting pot of different cultures, reflecting the diverse influences that shaped Madagascar's history. European colonizers, Arab traders, and local Malagasy people all came together here, exchanging goods and ideas. The harbor was a symbol of connection, linking Madagascar to the wider world. This photograph is a testament to the rich cultural and historical significance of Tuamasina's harbor during the early 1900s. It offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when the world was more connected than ever before.
