23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the ruins of the State Armory in Chelsea, Massachusetts, USA, following the devastating Great Chelsea Fire of April 12, 1908. The fire, one of the largest in American history at the time, broke out in the early hours of the morning and quickly spread, engulfing the armory and several nearby buildings. The State Armory, a large drill hall and arsenal, was a significant landmark in the community and housed the Massachusetts National Guard. It was built in 1898 and was considered a modern and impressive structure, with advanced fire prevention measures in place. However, these were not enough to prevent the disaster that unfolded on that fateful day. The photograph shows the remains of the armory's exterior walls, with the charred ruins of the interior visible through the gaps. The scene is one of destruction and devastation, with piles of rubble and debris scattered around the site. Shell casings and other military equipment are visible among the wreckage, a stark reminder of the building's former purpose. The cause of the fire is believed to have been an electrical fault in the armory's power plant. Despite the best efforts of the fire department and National Guard personnel, the blaze quickly spread and was not fully contained until the following day. The fire resulted in the loss of several lives and left hundreds of people homeless. This photograph, taken in the aftermath of the fire, offers a haunting glimpse into the destruction wrought by the disaster. It serves as a poignant reminder of the unpredictable nature of fire and the devastating impact it can have on communities and lives.
