23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Kato Kiyomasa: The Resolute Lord of Kumamoto (1562-1611) This striking portrait captures the essence of Kato Kiyomasa, a pivotal figure in Japanese history during the late Sengoku period (1467-1603). Born into a humble background, Kiyomasa rose to prominence through his military prowess and unwavering loyalty to his lord, Oda Nobunaga. After Nobunaga's death in 1582, Kiyomasa pledged allegiance to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who rewarded him with the governorship of Kumamoto Domain in 1587. In this portrait, Kiyomasa is depicted in a formal seated position, exuding an air of authority and confidence. He wears the traditional attire of a daimyo (feudal lord), including a lavish robe, a wide-brimmed hat, and a fan. The fan, an essential accessory for Japanese nobility, is delicately adorned with intricate designs, reflecting Kiyomasa's wealth and status. The portrait dates back to circa 1610, a time when Kiyomasa was at the height of his power. His stern expression and unyielding gaze suggest a man who was not only a capable military leader but also a shrewd political strategist. Kiyomasa's tenure as lord of Kumamoto was marked by significant expansion and development, making him a revered figure in the region's history. This portrait offers a glimpse into the grandeur and sophistication of the Japanese feudal era, as well as the indomitable spirit of a man who defied his humble origins to become a powerful and respected daimyo.
