Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Amidst the bustling streets of Jakarta, Indonesia, lies the historic Molenvliet Canal, a tranquil waterway that once played a vital role in the transportation of timber from the southern part of Batavia. Dating back to the 1920s, this canal was the brainchild of Chinese Captain Phoa Beng Gam, the second Chinese captain after Souw Beng Kon, who saw the need for an efficient means of transporting the abundant wood resources from the outskirts of the city to its heart. The Molenvliet Canal, which divides Jalan Gajah Mada and Jalan Hayam Wuruk, is a testament to the rich history and cultural diversity of Jakarta. In this image, we see the canal teeming with life, as traditional wooden barges laden with lumber make their way along the waterway. The women on the banks of the canal add a touch of color and activity, as they go about their daily chores, washing clothes and hanging them out to dry. The Molenvliet Canal was an essential part of Batavia's transportation system during the colonial era, and its construction marked a significant milestone in the city's development. Today, it stands as a reminder of Jakarta's rich past and the important role that waterways played in shaping its history. This evocative photograph, taken in the 1920s, offers a glimpse into a bygone era and the daily life of Jakarta's residents during that time.
