23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Debout dans la tranchee

EDITORS COMMENTS
(Standing in the Trench): A Symbol of Resilience and Hope in the Heart of WWI Amidst the harsh realities of the Western Front during World War I, a French soldier stands tall and resolute in this evocative poster from circa 1916. The soldier, bathed in the soft, dawn light, gazes off into the distance with a determined look in his eyes. The image, titled "Debout dans la tranchee" (Standing in the Trench), is a powerful reminder of the unwavering spirit of the soldiers who fought for victory and their eventual return home. This poignant poster, part of the National Defence war loan advertisement, was created to galvanize financial support for the ongoing war effort. The soldier's steadfast stance, juxtaposed against the backdrop of the muddy, craggy trench, serves as a symbol of resilience and hope amidst the chaos and hardships of the battlefield. The early morning light casts an ethereal glow over the scene, creating a stark contrast between the soldier's dreams of victory and the grim reality of his current situation. The simple yet powerful message conveyed through this image resonated deeply with the French people, who were encouraged to provide their financial support to ensure the continued success of their troops and the eventual triumph over their enemies. The "Debout dans la tranchee" poster is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during the First World War and the unwavering spirit of the soldiers who fought for a better future. This evocative image, with its blend of hope, determination, and the promise of a return to the comforts of home, continues to captivate and inspire audiences more than a century later.
